As of August 2025, MG-FARM counts five pilot farms across Algeria and Morocco, now entering the consolidation phase. In El Hamdania (UDES-CDER, Algeria), a solar-powered microgrid supplies irrigation, water storage, and greenhouse operations, proving the viability of renewables for multiple farm needs. Also in Algeria, the GEVAPRO Group Belaidouni Farm in Tlemcen has been equipped with two distinct grids, one delivering electricity and the other managing water supply, ensuring resilience and efficiency. In Morocco, the RIMSAR farm in Benguerir has been upgraded with a new PV system, smart irrigation technologies, and advanced monitoring to optimize water and energy use. The BLFARM site in Oujda combines solar power with sensor-based digital platforms to fine-tune irrigation and crop management. Together, these five pilot systems act as living laboratories, showing how renewable energy, digital tools, and water-smart solutions can boost productivity, strengthen food security, and provide replicable models for farms across North Africa.
